Stamford Bridge side target Nou Camp new boy.
Chelsea are said to be interested in Barcelona midfielder Alex Song according to the Metro.
The Cameroon international has struggled to break into the Nou Camp starting eleven following his summer move to Barcelona from Arsenal. This has led to speculation that the tough tackling midfielder could leave the Catalan club sooner rather than later.
Song has started just six of Barcelona’s 18 La Liga matches thus far this season and seems unable to dethrone Sergio Busquets from Tito Vilanova’s regular starting line-up.
Chelsea may well feel the need to add more steel to their midfield. Michael Essien appears very much surplus to requirements at the club having been loaned out to Real Madrid and youngster Oriol Romeu is yet to make an impact.
Alex Song is arguably a better option than first choice defensive midfielder John Obi Mikel so one could see why the Stamford Bridge side could have taken an interest in the former Arsenal man, who moved to Barcelona last August in £15m switch to the La Liga giants.
