Anfield side target ambitious Nou Camp raid.
Liverpool are reportedly readying a summer move for Barcelona keeper Victor Valdes according to the Sunday People.
The Nou Camp custodian has just 18 months to run on his current contract and Brendan Rodgers has earmarked a move for the Spaniard as a replacement for Pepe Reina, who has been repeatedly linked with a move to Arsenal.
Valdes is into his eleventh season at Barcelona and has racked up close to 500 appearances for the Catalan side but is still just 30 years of age, which in goalkeeping terms is relatively young. The locally born keeper has won a host of successes during his time at the Catalan giants, including five La Liga titles and three Champions League winner’s medals.
This source states that Barcelona would expect a fee of around £16m for Valdes but one would have to wonder just how likely a move to Anfield would be for the experienced keeper.
Unless the Merseyside club can secure a Champions League berth such a high quality signing would be incredibly tough to pull off.
