Winger set to agree terms to move to Old Trafford.
The drawn-out transfer saga over the signing of Crystal Palace winger Wilfried Zaha looks close to a conclusion with Manchester United set to complete a £15million deal.
According to the Sunday Mirror, Manchester United have beaten off competition to sign the 20-year-old, one of the stars of the Championship who is an England under-21 regular and who made his full international debut as a substitute against Sweden at the end of 2012.
Following personal checks on the player by Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson, the Premier League leaders have agreed to up their initial £10million offer to a £15million bid plus add-ons depending on appearances and future success.
And significantly, Manchester United have agreed complete the signing in the January transfer window and loan Zaha back to Crystal Palace until the end of the season to assist in their bid to win promotion to the Premier League.
Arsenal have also been interested in signing the winger, who could yet pledge his international future to the Ivory Coast – the country of his birth, but United’s willingness to loan Zaha back to Crystal Palace for the remainder of the season appears to have sealed the deal.
