Bernabeu star rules out summer switch to PSG or Manchester United.
Cristiano Ronaldo has ruled out a summer transfer move to either Paris Saint-Germain or Manchester United after promising to fulfil his contract at Real Madrid to its expiry in 2015.
But his announcement will spark panic amongst the Real Madrid hierarchy at the thought of their £80million man walking away on a free transfer at the end of the 2014/15 season – and could lead to him being sold before then.
The Portuguese international star, who is currently at the peak of his powers at the age of 27, has been a huge hit in La Liga since joining Real Madrid from Manchester United in 2009 – averaging more than a goal a game with 174 in 172 games.
He has previously announced his intention to quit the Spanish capital at the end of the current season following Real Madrid’s dismal opening half to the campaign. But he now appears intent on staying at the Bernabeu until the end of contract at 2015.
“I want to see out my contract at Real Madrid – I’m very clear about that. After that, well, I don’t know what’ll happen in the future,” Ronaldo told Fifa.com.
But the onus will now be on Real Madrid to agree new terms with Ronaldo to extend his stay at the club beyond 2015 or cash in on him this summer to maximize his full value.
