Frenchman says no to Loftus Road switch.
Tottenham defender William Gallas has turned down the chance to link up with former manager Harry Redknapp in favour of staying at White Hart Lane, but Queens Park Rangers have been given a boost with Ryan Nelsen staying with the club for another month-and-a-half.
Redknapp has been urgently searching for defensive reinforcements after Nelsen accepted a post to become head coach of Toronto FC in the MLS, where he also due to continue his career for a short time.
Redknapp was turned down in his advances for Manchester City’s Joleon Lescott, Tottenham’s Michael Dawson, Everton’s Sylvain Distin and West Brom’s Jonas Olsson and had targeted Gallas, who he coached at Tottenham, as his next option.
But the Daily Star have revealed that Gallas has turned a move to QPR in favour of completing his contract at Tottenham and moving overseas away from the Premier League.
But Redknapp, who has also been linked with a swoop for Sunderland’s Titus Bramble to fill the defensive void, has been given a boost by the news the Nelsen will not be needed at Toronto untul the end of February.
Redknapp said: “Hopefully we will keep him for another month or six to seven weeks.”
