Emirates Stadium side finally ready to splash the cash.
Following Arsene Wenger’s admission that he is a big admirer of Napoli striker Edinson Cavani Fanatix are reporting that the North London club are ready to make a club record breaking £30m bid for the in-form Uruguayan.
Arsene Wenger has been threatening to spend money for some weeks now but half-way through the January transfer window the Gunners boss is yet to spend a penny and one would imagine any bid for the 25 year old Serie A hot-shot would be saved until the summer, with moves to get Theo Walcott tied down to a new contract probably the chief concern for the time being.
Arsenal fans will be impressed by the potential move for a player who is arguably one of the most in-form strikers in Europe and will hope that Wenger will indeed look to splash the cash in a manner more befitting a club with ambitions of winning major honours.
Cavani may well be interested in a move to the Premier League and could feel that the chances of Napoli securing big trophy successes are slim.
The former Palermo man has scored an astonishing 25 goals in 23 games in all competitions this season and that follows 33 goals in each of the last two seasons at the San Paolo.
Arsenal relied a great deal on summer signing Olivier Giroud at the start of the campaign but have opted to hand Walcott a striking role in recent weeks, with mixed results.
