Tottenham will reportedly push to bring midfielder Lewis Holtby to White Hart Lane this month as Andre Villas-Boas looks to strengthen his squad following a knee injury suffered by Brazilian Sandro.

The Schalke youngster has signed a pre-contract deal that would see the 22 year old move to North London next summer but Tottenham are said to be ready to make a nominal payment to bring the deal forward.

Schalke general manager Horst Heldt has not ruled out selling players this month and this has fueled speculation the Bundesliga side could make his move to Tottenham during the current transfer window rather than in the summer according to Sky Sports.

There is perhaps a possibility that Holtby will become the victim of Schalke boo-boys, unhappy with the player’s decision to not sign a new deal with his Gelsenkirchen club though the talented midfielder would perhaps prefer to see out the season in Germany, not least because his side are through to the last 16 of the Champions League.
