Nou Camp side keen on Stamford Bridge veteran.
Barcelona are reportedly lining up a shock move to sign veteran Chelsea left-back Ashley Cole according to the Metro.
Spanish daily Marca clima that Barcelona president Sandro Rosell is keeping tabs on the 32 year old England international, who’s Chelsea contract comes to an end this summer, with no sign of a new Blues offer on the cards.
Plenty of Chelsea vs Arsenal tickets available
PSG, Real Madrid and Russian big spenders Anzhi have all been linked with moves for the experienced defender but a move to Barcelona is apparently one that the former Arsenal man is most keen on.
A move Cole would be something of a surprise given the summer signing of Spaniard Jordi Alba, who though defensively suspect, has been a hugely effective addition to the Barcelona first team set-up since joining from Valencia having previously been a youth team player at the Nou Camp.
Chelsea are unlikely to offer Cole anything more than a one year extension, as is club policy on player’s over the age of 30, and indeed the Blues may well not offer a new deal at all and as such the wide-man will be considering a number of options as the season edges towards it’s conclusion.
The Stamford Bridge side will in turn be looking for a long term replacement for Cole and may feel that long term back-up Ryan Bertrand may be ready to step into his boots.
