Emirates Stadium side line up late move for Nou Camp forward.
Check in to Arsenal vs West Ham United
Arsenal will launch a £10m bid that they hope will tempt Barcelona into selling striker David Villa according to The Sun.
QPR vs Arsenal tickets still available
The 31 year old forward has stated his intention to leave the Nou Camp and wants a January exit but Barcelona boss Tito Vilanova is reluctant to sell the former Valencia man, despite the fact that the experienced marksman is little more than a bit part player at the Catalan club.
This source believes Wenger will wait it out and put in an offer within the last 48 hours of the January Transfer window, though to do so would mean that any successful move would have to be completed in double quick time and would also mean he would have Villa for a smaller portion of the season, albeit only by a matter of days.
Villa has started just 11 of Barcelona’s 33 games in all competitions this season, but has still managed to score ten goals.
Wenger is looking for extra striking options having seen summer signing Olivier Giroud hit a run of poor form, scoring just two goals in his last 12 appearances. Theo Walcott has been successfully converted into a striker and has signed a new contract but the North London side are still lacking a prolific marksman to fill the void left by Robin Van Persie’s departure to Man United.
