Barnsley full-back wanted at Goodison Park.

Check in to Transfer Window: Done Deal Alerts

Everton have joined Premier League rivals Fulham, Sunderland and Wigan Athletic in wanting to sign Barnsley full-back John Stones, one of the most highly-rated youngsters in the Championship.

Stones may only be 18 but he has attracted scouts from top flight clubs to Oakwell and, according to the Sunday Mirror, Everton manager David Moyes is ready to splash out £2million to sign the young defender.

Barnsley have rejected offers from Sunderland and Fulham as they hold out for closer to their £3million valuation, which Everton may be prepared to meet with the right-back spot at Goodison Park a problem.

Wide midfielder Seamus Coleman has played in the right-back role this season but is facing an injury lay-off and that could prompt Moyes to bring in Stones this month rather than wait until the summer.

Everton have been busy securing the future of their defence in this transfer window with Phil Jagielka and Sylvain Distin both signing new deals to keep them at Goodison Park.
