Goodison Park side chase Sevilla forward.
Everton are set to launch a last minute £9m bid for Spanish international striker Alvaro Negredo according to the Daily Mail.
Everton 4/1 to clinch a top four spot: Champions League qualification betting
Having seen their move for FC Twente midfielder Leroy Fer collapse the Toffees have switched tack and are not pursuing Sevilla forward Alvaro Negredo and a £9m bid may just be enough to persuade the cash strapped La Liga side to consider selling their star striker.
A move to provide the top four chasers with more firepower is a sensible one as large portion of the 37 Premier League goals scored by the Merseyside club have come from the side’s midfield or wide areas with striker Nikica Jelavic going through something of a lean spell failing to score in his last eight top tier appearances.
Negredo has managed nine La Liga goals thus far this season and is a consistent attacking weapon who could certainly aid in David Moyes’s chase for a Champions League berth.
