Manchester City vs Liverpool tickets are on sale from £29 for this Sunday’s match at the Etihad Stadium
The French defender has been at the Stadio Olimpico since 2006 but will be out of contract in the summer and therefore available on a free transfer and could well be the subject of a great deal of interest at the end of the season.
Imposing centre-back Diakite is out of contract at the end of the season, and is free to meet with interested parties to arrange a pre-contract move.
Aston Villa are also said to be interested but it’s thought that Liverpool are leading the chase for the former Pescara man.
Brendan Rodgers is apparently happy to hand over a big signing-on fee if the Frenchman compromises on his contract demands.
The Liverpool boss may well feel the need to strengthen his back-line given Jamie Carragher’s age and Uruguayan youngster Sebastien Coates’s apparent homesickness.
The player’s agent, Ulisse Savini claims Liverpool is the most likely next port of call for his client.
“Liverpool is our first option for June,” Savini told tuttomercatoweb.com.
“It’s in issue in progress and we have to talk yet.
“Everyone knows that the contract is expiring. Also, Lazio know there is no hurry.
“We’ll see in the coming days. However, it would be hard to say no to Liverpool.”
