Sir Alex Ferguson has targeted the giant 21-year-old midfielder, who can also play at the heart of defence, to add some steel to his United line-up having been impressed with Wanyama in Scottish Premier League action.
Wanyama joined Celtic for £900,000 a year-and-a-half ago, but would command a much bigger fee. But the Kenyan has revealed that he will not be leaving Celtic Park on deadline day, meaning his move to Old Trafford is now likely to go through in the summer.
“I can confirm to you that I will be at Celtic,” Wanyama told the Daily Record. “We are playing well and our Champions League dream is on right now, so I am looking forward to the big game against Juventus.
“A lot has been said about my intended move but I have not given it much thought and even my manager feels I should play until the end of the season for Celtic. Then, from that point, the doors can be open for a move.”
