Third choice Tottenham goalkeeper Heurelho Gomes has secured a temporary departure from White Hart Lane after joining Bundesliga side Hoffenheim on loan for the remainder of the season, according to Sportinglife.

Previously the number one choice between the posts for Tottenham under Harry Redknapp, Brazilian international Gomes started the season as fourth choice behind Hugo Lloris, Bred Friedel and Carlo Cudicini, who has subsequently left to join Los Angeles Galaxy in the MLS.

The 31-year-old Gomes was keen secure first-team football as he looks to prove his worth to the Brazilian national team ahead of the 2014, which takes place in the South American country. He had been linked with a return home.

He has not played for Tottenham since November 2011 and the former PSV Eindhoven goalkeeper has jumped at the chance of the offer of first-team football at Hoffenheim where he will go straight into the squad for Bundesliga action this weekend.

Gomes could be one of a number of departures from White Hart Lane on before the transfer window closes on deadline day with David Bentley, Andros Townsend, Tom Huddlestone and Jermaine Jenas among the big name who could be heading through the exit door.
