The 26 year old wide-man is into his third season at Spartak Moscow and has proven something of a success and may be considerd by Roberto Martinez as the man to fill the void left by Victor Moses, who joined Chelsea in the summer.
McGeady still has 18 months to run on his Spartak contract but the former Celtic man was willing to take a pay cut in pursuit of a move to the Premier League. Both sides are said to have agreed a £5m deal and the move should be sealed before the transfer deadline at 11pm tonight.
Aiden McGeady spent seven seasons at Parkhead prior to his move to Russia and has 57 national team caps to his name.
