Anfield side to launch hopeful move to sign St James’ Park attacker.
Liverpool are ready to use Newcastle United’s apparent interest in re-signing forward Andy Carroll to aid their pursuit of Magpies winger Hatem Ben Arfa according to the Guardian.

Brendan Rodgers is a big admirer of the 25 year old winger and this source believes the French internatioanl would consider a move away from St James’ Park this summer, but whether that means he would be interested in a move to Anfield is an entirely different matter.
Ben Arfa made it abundantly clear he would be interested in a move to join big spending Ligue 1 side PSG but is tied down to a Newcastle United contract until the summer of 2015, which would mean Liverpool would have to make a sizable bid to secure the former Marseille man.
This fact may then be the reason Liverpool would be looking to offset the cost by offering former Newcastle United striker Andy Carroll in an exchange deal that could suit all parties.
West Ham have a first option agreement written into the loan arrangement between the two clubs but if the East London side opt to not fork out the fee needed to make the 23 year old England international’s move a permanent one then Rodgers clearly has a ‘Plan B’ ready and waiting.
Andy Carroll doesn’t appear to have much of a future at Liverpool and the January signing of Daniel Sturridge is perhaps final proof, if needed, of that fact.
Ben Arfa displayed excellent form last term, which helped propel Alan Pardew’s into the top six, but things have not been so rosy at during the current campaign but the investment made by Newcastle United in January should at least show the flair player just how much ambition the club does possess.
One would imagine that the chances of Liverpool pulling off such a deal depend greatly on whether they have Champions League football to offer Ben Arfa.
