The Express claim that Man United are set to battle Real Madrid to sign Inter Milan wide-man Yuto Nagatomo.

The 26 year old has been targeted by both sides after impressive over the past 18 months at the San Siro, becoming a more prominent member of the Nerazzurri squad under young boss Andrea Stramaccioni.

Nagatomo may be tempted by a move to join fellow countryman Shinji Kagawa at Old Trafford, especially if Inter Milan fail to secure a Champions League berth for the second season running. Inter Milan currently sit in fifth spot in Serie A, with only the top three eligible.

A move to freshen up his midfield may lead Sir Alex Ferguson to consider a bid for Yagatomo, especially with Portugese international Nani seemingly being surplus to requirements but also because the Scot still relies a fair bit on veterans Paul Scholes and Ryan Giggs.

Nagatomo has made a total of 72 appearances for Inter Milan since making his debut for the club in February 2011.
