The 32-year-old, who joined Chelsea from Lyon in a £13.5million deal in 2007, helped the club lift the Champions League last season under Roberto Di Matteo, but was made an outcast after refusing to sign a new contract.
He has not trained with the first-team all season and has not played a competitive game in his final 12 months at Stamford Bridge.
Anzhi Makhachkala, who have former Stamford Bridge star Yuri Zhirkov and Chelsea target Willian in their ranks, could make a move to sign Malouda at the end of February when the transfer window opens ahead of the restart of action in Russia.
But Malouda is likely to wait until the summer and the expiration of his contract at Chelsea before leaving the club with matters understood to be complicated.
Malouda told France-Guyane: “The details I’ll explain when I’m free, but the strategy they use is to make me look like a player seeking substantial compensation.
“It’s petty but more than anything else it makes me smile because it shows how these people regard me. If you are excluded for one year, it is very, very long. You must be armed mentally. All this is done to break me mentally, but in reality it motivates me enormously.”
