Stamford Bridge in agreement with La Liga side that would see young keeper move in the opposite direction.
Well respected Spanish source InterEconomia claim that Chelsea have already agreed a deal to sign Radamel Falcao.
fanatix tickets – Manchester City vs Chelsea tickets are on sale from £48 for the match on February 24th at the Etihad Stadium.
It is claimed by this source that a move would entail Belgian keeper Thibaut Courtois moving to Atletico Madrid on a permanent deal, with the young keeper into his second season on loan at the Vicente Calderon side.
Radamel Falcao has been strongly linked with a move to Stamford Bridge ever since the Colombian buried a hat-trick past Chelsea in the club’s UEFA Super Cup win over the West London side earlier this season.
Atletico Madrid are well known for selling their top talents and may well struggle to keep hold of the 26 year old, even though the former FC Porto striker’s goals have led Diego Simeone’s side into second spot in La Liga.
Even if the deal included Courtois one would imagine that Chelsea would have to fork out a huge sum as part of any deal to sign Falcao.
It is entirely plausible that Chelsea would opt to use Courtois as a makeweight in any deal as they may see no need to replace current first choice keeper Petr Cech.
Radamel Falcao may feel that any long term ambitions could be more easily met at the Premier League side and can expect a hefty pay increase by a move to the Blues.
Falcao netted 36 goals in his first season in the Spanish top tier and has scored 22 goals in 21 games in all competitions thus far this season.
