Liverpool and Everton have joined West Brom in the race to sign Leeds United’s teenager full-back Sam Byram according to the Express & Star.

West Brom have had 19-year-old Byram watched in the Championship this season with manager Steve Clarke making a personal check on the youngster ahead of a potential move to sign him in the summer.

And Merseyside rivals Liverpool and Everton are also tracking right-back Byram, who can also operate as a wing back, on the wing or in central midfield, having been alerted to his talent following some reports on Leeds United manager Neil Warnock’s young star.

Everton have already signed one talented young defender from the Championship with the purchase of John Stones from Barnsley in January and want to add Byram to their ranks, while the Leeds defender is also wanted by Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers, who has made a habit of snapping up the best young talent.

Byram signed a new contract at Elland Road in January which keeps him at Leeds United until the end of the 2015/16 season after impressing in his 39 appearances for the club in his debut season in professional football.
