Stamford Bridge misfit to be used as a carrot to sign in-demand forward.
Chelsea are set to offer Fernando Torres as part of a swap deal to capture Radamel Falcao in the summer after Atletico Madrid expressed an interest in the Stamford Bridge misfit.
fanatix tickets – Manchester City vs Chelsea tickets are on sale from £48 for the match on February 24th at the Etihad Stadium.
Chelsea are one of a number of clubs vying for the signature of Atletico Madrid’s star man Falcao and hope to beat off competition from the likes of Manchester City, Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich by using Torres as a sweetener.
Torres made his name at Atletico Madrid before joining Liverpool and becoming a start of the Premier League. But things have turned sour at Chelsea since his £50million move two years ago with just 27 goals in 109 appearances for the club.
And Chelsea are ready to cut their losses on the Spanish international and use him as a carrot to entice Atletico Madrid to sell Falcao to them rather than one of the other big name clubs chasing him.
Atletico have expessed an interest in re-signing Torres, who scored 91 times in 243 appearances during a seven season spell at the club, and Chelsea hope to use him to help meet Falcao’s £46million release clause in his contract.
A Spanish source told the Sunday Mirror: “Despite all his problems at Chelsea, Torres is still held in great affection at Atletico and he would be welcomed back.”
