Arsenal’s search for defensive reinforcements has led Arsene Wenger to Turin with the Gunners boss taking an interest in adaptable Juventus defender Martin Caceres according to talkSPORT.

Wenger has his sights set on the 25 year old who can play effectively across the back four but it may take some persuading to convince the former Barcelona man to quit his all conquering Juventus side.

Caceres moved to Juventus on a permanent basis last summer having impressed during a loan spell in which he helped Antonio Conte’s side to clinch the Serie A title.

This source believes that Wenger is none to pleased with a number of his first team option at the back, pinpointing Thomas Vermaelen and Bacary Sagna’s displays of late as disappointing.

Caceres is by no means a first team regular, making just ten Serie A starts out of a possible 25, and therefore could be tempted by a move to the North London club if he felt it likely to bring with it a more regular taste of the action.

Martin Caceres is an experienced campaigner who spent five seasons in La Liga prior to his permanent Italian switch.
