Five In, Five Out: Potential Chelsea Summer Transfer Plans

Frank Lampard

It has been the talk of Stamford Bridge all season, but Chelsea’s reluctance to handed Frank Lampard a new contract means he is destined to leave the club when his contract expires at the end of the season.

He is now Chelsea’s second leading scorer of all time but that has not stopped the club’s hierarchy from denying the England midfielder a new deal.

Lampard is now likely to head to the MLS to fill the boots left empty by David Beckham at Los Angeles Galaxy, with his contract including a three-month loan back to a European club every single season.

Marouane Fellaini (Everton)

Belgian international Marouane Fellaini is expected to leave Everton in the summer after it emerged during the January transfer window that there is a £23million release clause in his Goodison Park contract.

Chelsea are the most likely to capture the 25-year-old as they see him as a replacement for Frank Lampard, who is out of contract at the end of the current season, and are set for to offer the full £23million to activate his release clause.

There is rival interest from Arsenal, Manchester City and Manchester United but the lure of a big contract at Chelsea and the opportunity to replace Lampard means Fellaini is expected to sign on at Stamford Bridge in the summer.
