Old Trafford side keen on PSG youngster.
Man United are set to battle AC Milan in their joint pursuit of PSG midfielder Marco Verratti according to the Daily Express.
fanatix tickets- Sunderland vs Manchester United tickets are on sale from £27 for the match on March 30th at the Stadium of Light.
Sir Alex Ferguson sees the 20 year old Italian international as an ideal candidate to replace veteran Paul Scholes but will now face tough competition from a San Siro side who are also very keen on the young midfielder.
Rossoneri president Silvio Berlusconi recently stated: “I shouldn’t have left Pirlo go.
“But we now have Riccardo Montolivo.
“For the future, we are interested in Verratti. He is one of those players that we are examining, then we will see if there are conditions that make the deal possible.”
The young playmaker moved to PSG in the summer after impressing many with his assured displays at Pescara and Verratti is now a firm part of Cesare Prandelli’s Italian national team set-up and indeed netted his first international goal earlier this month against Holland.
However the pint sized midfielder has only started just over half of PSG’s Ligue 1 fixtures this term and Ferguson may see the youngster as the just the ticket as he looks to freshen up his Old Trafford midfield.
Arguably the Man United midfield is a little brittle and doesn’t offer all that much in the way of attacking verve. Ferguson still relies on old timers Paul Scholes, Ryan Giggs and to a greater extent Michael Carrick and though Tom Cleverly has impressed the Scottish boss may feel he needs more creativity in the centre of the park and appears to see Verratti as an option this summer.
PSG spent £8m to bring Verratti to the Parc des Princes in the summer.
