Former Arsenal star Dennis Bergkamp is said to be in pole position to take over from Michael Laudrup as Swansea City boss according to TuttoMercato.

The 43 year old, who is currently Frank De Boer’s assistant at Ajax, is in pole position to fill the void as the South Wales side seemingly expect to lose the services of Laudrup this summer.

The former Barcelona and Real Madrid playmaker is being linked with a move back to La Liga after a successful first season in the English top tier, helping the South Wales side to a Capital One Cup triumph.

Bergkamp spent 11 years in England and may well be interested in taking his managerial bow in the Premier League having spent the last four years in various roles at Ajax, culminating in his spot as De Boer’s second in command.

Swansea City chairman Huw Jenkins would be loathed to lose another manager but may feel it is inevitable that his side will be used as a stepping stone, as they have been by Brendan Rodgers who chose to leave the club to take over at Liverpool last summer.
