Old Trafford side push on with efforts to pull off big summer transfer coup.
Man United are ready to register their interest in re-signing former Old Trafford favourite Cristiano Ronaldo according to the Daily Mail and are set to offer Real Madrid a choice of three players as a sweetener in their pursuit of the 28 year old Portuguese international.
fanatix tickets – El Clasico tickets are still available for the biggest derby match in Europe.Real Madrid vs Barcelona tickets are on sale for this massive La Liga clash at the Bernabeau on March 3rd.
According to this source a move to bring Ronaldo back to the Premier League table toppers is firmly on the summer agenda and incoming chief executive Ed Woodward, who is taking over from David Gill in the summer, is apparently very interested in pursuing moves to sign the Bernabeu star this summer.
Woodward believes that such a signing would have commercial benefits around the world, and that United could even look to their expanding portfolio of global sponsors to help fund the deal.
Having attempted to tie down Cristiano Ronaldo to a new long term contract it is apparently possible that Real Madrid president Florentino Perez could look to sell the goal machine to prevent the possibility of the player looking to run down his current contract, which ends in the summer of 2015, and leaving on a free transfer. Something Perez will not allow that to happen.
Furhter Talks are expected at the end of the season, with Perez under a fair amount of pressure to either persuade Ronaldo to sign a new deal or to show that no player is bigger than the club and instead look to cement the best deal possible and sell their most prized asset.
Having sold Ronaldo to Real Madrid for a record breaking £80m in the summer of 2009 Man United are looking to cut the costs on any potential bid to buy him back by offering a trio of players they feel could tempt the Spanish giants into selling.
This source believes could look to offset the financial outlay by offering David de Gea, Nani or Javier Hernandez in part exchange.
Moves to use De Gea may be a ‘goer’ given that the Spanish international put in a marvelous display when the two clubs met in the Champions League first leg encounter in Madrid, which is also the 22 year old keeper’s hometown.
Also Real Madrid may feel that De Gea is a viable candidate to challenge Iker Casillas in the long term.
Javier Hernandez has been a consistent goal-scorer since his move to Man United but is still very much a back-up option. Jose Mourinho doesn’t have all that many strikers of note in his squad and the Mexican could also be a player that interests the La Liga title holders whilst Nani could be considered a like for like replacement for Ronaldo, albeit one that has for many years been in his national team colleague’s shadow.
