Emirates Stadium club draw up shortlist of summer transfer targets.
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has a shortlist of 11 players he wants to bring to the club in the summer as he prepares to spend a £70million transfer kitty.
Wenger is set to be busy in the transfer market when the windown opens again at the end of the season and he has set out the players he wants to sign to the Arsenal board, who are ready to give him £70million to spend if the club finish in the top-four in the Premier League and secure Champions League football.
According to the Sunday Mirror, Wenger has given his scouting network an A-list and a B-list of targets he will bid to sign depending on whether Arsenal are playing in the Champions League or Europa League next season.
If a top-four finish is secured, then Wenger will attempt to sign those on his A-list – Fiorentina forward Steven Jovetic, Barcelona striker David Villa and goalkeeper Victor Valdes, Borussia Dortmund starlet Mario Gotze and Bayern Munich midfielder Luiz Gustavo and Toulouse enforcer Etienne Capoue.
The back-up B-list, which looks the more likely route after Sunday’s north London derby defeat to Tottenham, includes midfielders Yohan Cabaye, of Newcastle, Wigan’s James McCarthy and Celtic’s Victor Wanyama as well and goalkeepers Pepe Reina and Simon Mignolet of Liverpool and Sunderland respectively.
