Stoke City are preparing a £7million summer move for Liverpool midfielder Jonjo Shelvey, according to the Sunday People.

According to the newspaper, Shelvey has become unhappy after falling out of favour at Anfield with Jordan Henderson and new signing Philippe Coutinho moving ahead of him in the pecking order in Brendan Rodgers’ midfield.

The 21-year-ol former Charlton player had enjoyed a run in the team at the start of Rodgers’ rein, a run over form which saw him earn a first cap for Roy Hodgson’s England side. But he has had to make do with bit-part roles from the bench since the turn of the year.

And Stoke City manager Tony Pulis is set to offer him the chance of regular first time football at the Britannia Stadium and is ready to offer £7million to capture the midfielder.

Stoke City scouts watched Shelvey in action for the Liverpool development team last week and he has been earmarked as a potential replacement for ex-Anfield team-mate Charlie Adam, who is set to leave the Britannia Stadium after just one season with the club.

Having signed a long-term contract in the summer, Shelvey has played 28 times for Liverpool this season, scoring five times – four of them in the Europa League.
