Old Trafford side keen on Brazilian Under 20 international.

Check in to West Ham United vs Manchester United

Man United have set their sights on highly rated Brazilian youngster Antonio Carlos according to the Daily Mirror.

Sir Alex Ferguson has been scouting the 19 year old for some time and has asked Corinthians director of football, former Arsenal midfielder Edu, about the Brazilian Under 20 international’s availability.

The Rio born defender has impressed when called upon by the Corinthians first team but is still by no means a first team regular at the club.

Ferguson may feel the fact that Man United have something of a Brazilian contingent; Fabio, Rafael and Anderson, could give the Old Trafford side the edge in pursuit of the young defender.

The Man United boss may feel the need to bring in young pretenders to the club given that Rio Ferdinand in the final years of his career and Nemanja Vidic continues to be beset with injury problems.

United are not expected to make an official move in the immediate future but will monitor the Seleção U20 captain’s development.
