Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich has set his sights on Real Madrid playmaker Kaka. The Russian billionaire is keen to bring in a ‘Marquee’ signing or two next summer and feels he can lure the experienced midfielder to Stamford Bridge.

The 30 year old former World Footballer of the Year has come to terms with the fact that he is unable to command a regular spot in the Bernabeu starting eleven and feels that his chances at Real Madrid will grow ever more limited, especially if as expected the Spanish giants invest in new midfield talent at the end of the season, and Kaka is now ready to consider his options.

Though Abramovich and Chelsea’s technical development team have put in place a transfer policy that is built to stand the club in good stead in the long term, hence the signing of youthful talent such as Oscar, Cesar Azpilicueta, Eden Hazard and Victor Moses last summer, the club will look to balance this with the inclusion of experienced talents.

To this end the club has been keen to retain the services of Ashley Cole for another season and will almost certainly offer Frank Lampard a similar one year extension and to further this move towards a squad made up of ‘Youth and Experience’ Chelsea will test the water with an opening bid of £20m for the Real Madrid man.

Kaka has been handed just five La Liga starts this season and could see a move to Chelsea as a chance to re-ignite a career that has stuttered in Spain.

Abramovich will hope that the presence of countrymen Oscar, David Luiz, Ramires and Lucas Piazon would also act as an incentive to Kaka and Chelsea are willing to more than match the salary the former AC Milan currently earns at Real Madrid.
