Arsene Wenger looks set to complete a deal to sign highly rated French striker Yaya Sanogo according to the Metro.

Arsenal hope to agree a pre-contract deal to bring in the Auxerre youngster within the next few days with Wenger traveling personally to France to sew up the loose ends ahead of a move to sign the 20 year old.

The French Under 21 international has notched up seven goals in his last seven games for Ligue 2 side Auxerre, attracting a fair amount of attention along the way.

Sanogo will be out of contract come the summer and Wenger is keen to steal a march ahead of any other prospective suitors, hence his decision to travel to add the personal touch that he hopes will heal seal the deal.

Arsenal almost signed Sanogo 18 months ago but a broken leg caused the transfer to collapse but now the strong forward looks likely to finally complete his move to the North London club.

Arsenal will have to foot a modest compensation package said to be around £300k to complete the deal.

Wenger may well be keen to strengthen his attack with Arsenal relying heavily on Olivier Giroud this season, with the former Montpellier man having a patchy first season in the English top tier.
