Tottenham are clearly prepared for the worst as the North London side have reportedly set their sights on Celtic youngster James Forrest as a possible replacement for Gareth Bale, should the Welshman leave White Hart Lane this summer.

The Metro claim that the North London side are hopeful that the 23 year old wing wizard will accept a £130k a week contract offer, the biggest in the club’s history, but Andre Villas-Boas is nonetheless looking at possible options should Gareth Bale leave Tottenham this summer.

Tottenham have been keeping tabs on Celtic wide-man Forrest for some time and would have little problem meeting Celtic’s £8m valuation of the Scottish international, especially as any Bale sale would involve the club receiving up to £50m for the former Southampton man.

Forrest is into his fourth season in the Bhoys first team and has scored 16 goals in 95 appearances and has seven national team caps to his name.

The Prestwick born attacker is a very raw performer with speed and a directness that could well scare the life out of Premier League defences and Neil Lennon may well struggle to retain the youngster if the Premier League side does come calling.

Clearly if Tottenham have Champions League football to offer then such a move to tempt Forrest will only increase.
