Blackburn midfielder Danny Murphy could be set for a surprise return to Craven Cottage according to The Daily Mail.

The former England international arrived at Ewood Park from Fulham last summer but is already in talks with the club over the early termination of his contract.

Murphy has become a victim of the unrest at the club which saw former Blackburn centre-back Henning Berg join the club as manager for a mere 57 days. He has since been replaced by Michael Appleton who has stripped Murphy of the club captaincy and dropped him from the first team.

Fans of the club are reportedly to be unhappy with the seemingly directionless place the owners are taking the club.

Reports are suggesting that Fulham are keen to bring Murphy back to London although it is not clear whether the player would join in an on-pitch capacity.

Murphy recently completed a number of his professional coaching badges and it is thought the club may be keen to bring the player in as part of the technical staff.

The 35 year old may be keen however on a resuming a player role and it is not clear if that matches up with Fulham’s plans.
