The French international was a regular in the Parc des Princes starting eleven for much of the current campaign but over the past few weeks has seen his chances limited, with four of his last five Ligue 1 appearances being from the bench.
The 25 year old former Roma man will have a year to run on his current contract this summer and this may well leave Liverpool believing they could snap up the wide-man for a reduced fee, with his value decreasing the closer he gets to being a free agent, with no new deal on the horizon.
Menez is not the only PSG player on the Anfield radar with the Merseyside club continuing to track Kevin Gameiro, who has seen his first team chances snuffed out by the arrival of Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
The former Lorient forward has made just four Ligue 1 starts this season, and only one since October. Gamiero notched up 14 goals in his first season at the club but may feel that it’s time to consider his options with his international chances suffering as a result of a lack of first team action.
Rodgers may well feel there is a need to beef up his attacking options even though Luis Suarez and Daniel Sturridge have forged a good pairing thus far. Any move for Gameiro may well be as a result of the poor displays from Italian Fabio Borini in his debut Liverpool season.
Liverpool are also said to be monitoring adaptable defender Mamadou Sakho, who Rodgers may see as an ideal player to boost his defensive options.
The one club man doesn’t look likely to leave PSG this summer though having successfully secured his spot in Ancelotti’s first team after a sticky period on the bench earlier in the campaign.
