Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is set to rest a number of his side’s key players in the Champions League tie against Bayern Munich according to The Daily Mail.

The Frenchman is reportedly ready to prioritise a top-four Premier League finish in a move that risks igniting the wrath of the Emirates faithful.

Arsenal are looking to overcome a 3-1 deficit from the first leg in Germany but it now appears the club are set to field a weakened team against the Bundesliga leaders.

Jack Wilshere, Lukas Podolski and Bacary Sagna have already been declared unavailable for the tie but Wenger is reportedly ready to leave out the likes of Santi Cazorla, Per Mertesacker and Theo Walcott as he looks ahead to the weekend’s game against Swansea.

‘Swansea is a massive game this weekend and qualifying for the Champions League is massive’, said Wenger.

‘We want to be in there and I don’t envisage anything else. That’s why it was so difficult for us to lose at Tottenham.

‘It means more because it was Tottenham, but it was the impact for us in the league which was the worry for me.

‘Every player wants to play in the Champions League. You want to play at the top level and the Champions League is the top.’
