Boss undergoing treatment for throat cancer will return next season.
Barcelona have confirmed that manager Tito Vilanova will continue in the role next season according to Marca.
The Spanish boss is currently undergoing treatment for throat cancer but Director of Football Andoni Zubizarreta has confirmed that he will return to lead the side as soon as he is well enough.
‘Vilanova will be Barca manager next season. His return is our greatest victory’, said Zubizarreta.
‘Tito’s doing well. He’s looking well, hasn’t lost too much weight and is in high spirits. He’s in great shape but we know that this type of treatment wears you down.
‘He’s still in touch with the game and this will have helped him. Giving a date would be a mistake, as that’s not for me to say.
‘Anyone who has undergone treatment for such a time knows that you must take each day at a time. So we’re going to be cautious and not say when.’
Barcelona are through to the next round of the Champions League after demolishing AC Milan 4-0 to overturn a two goal deficit from the first leg.
The Catalan giants also appear to have La Liga wrapped up, currently enjoying a thirteen point lead over rivals Real Madrid with eleven games left to play.
