Arsenal have made Malaga youngster Isco their number one summer transfer target according to the Daily Star.

Arsene Wenger has successfully lured two of Isco’s La Rosaleda team-mates in the last two transfer windows, signing Santi Cazorla and Nacho Monreal from the cash-strapped La Liga side and now the North London side are keen on completing a Malaga hat-trick.

£30m would represent the smashing of Arsenal’s transfer record spend but given Isco’s age and potential it’s a fee that seems more than reasonable.

The 20 year old is considered one of the hottest prospects in European football and is the type of creative talent that would fit in well with Arsenal’s style of play.

Chief Arsenal scout Steve Rowley has been sent on a number of missions to evaluate the Spanish international, who earned his first senior cap last month, and now the Gunners are looking to make Isco their first signing of the summer.

Wenger has been handed a £70m transfer warchest to invest in the Arsenal squad as they look to end their eight year long silverware drought.

One wonders if such a move would be less likely if Champions League football has not been secured.

Isco has been in fine form this term, especially so in Champions League action where the midfielder has notched up three goals to help Malaga into the last eight.
