David Beckham could be set for an extend spell at PSG according to The Daily Mail.

The England midfielder joined the French side from LA Galaxy on the last day of the January transfer window.

Speculation at the time suggested the player had joined the club for one last payday before his retirement.

The Ligue 1 side are currently owned by the Qatari Royal family who have invested significant sums of money in the French club.

But Beckham dispelled such speculation by announcing he is to donate his salary to a children’s charity, and insisted he joined the club for footballing reasons.

The player’s appearances have been limited so far as he looks to regain match fitness but his attitude to training has reportedly impressed the club’s management.

Director of Football, Brazilian Leonardo, suggested the former England captain was set to play an important role for the club. He stressed that the two parties would not discuss extending the player’s stay until the end of the season but a potential extension to his current deal was not off the table.

‘I think David is very important, it is the beginning of the project’, said Leonardo.

‘’David is like all the other players and is already important.

‘When you decide something for the future, that is his opinion and our opinion and after the season we have to see how we are.

‘It is important to finish this season and if he wants to continue with us he will.

‘It is our choice, and his choice, but we have a very good feeling, he is very happy in Paris, he is playing in the team with big ambition for the future and he will be important for the future and the door will always be open for David as long as he wants.’
