West Brom boss Steve Clarke has told the club’s fans to forget about striker Romelu Lukaku staying on at the club for another season according to The Mirror.

The young striker arrived at the Hawthorns this year after failing to establish himself in the Stamford Bridge first team.

The London club signed the player for a fee in the region of £10 million from Belgian side Anderlecht but was largely restricted to substitute and Captial One Cup appearances.

Lukaku has showed exactly what he is capable of this year, scoring 13 goals for the Black Country side.

The player is the highest scoring teenager in the Premier League since Michael Owen for Liverpool.

Lukaku has reportedly expressed a desire to extend his stay at West Brom but it seems he is set to be fast-tracked into the Chelsea first team.

‘He is Chelsea’s player’, said Clarke. ‘He belongs to Chelsea and he will go back there in the summer.

‘I have never thought it would be possible Chelsea would let him come back next season. He came on a season-long loan and we’re grateful we got him.’

Chelsea could do with some attacking reinforcements for next season. Fernando Torres continues to play as a shadow of the player that persuaded the London club to shell out £50 million to Liverpool to secure the player’s signature.

A partnership between Lukaku and January acquisition Demba Ba may be prove to be more productive.
