When football becomes more than just entertainment.

The former Chelsea star was near the pinnacle of his career as he saw his country descend into conflict. Drogba tried to use his fame to appeal to the better natures of politicans, warring actions and his fellow countrymen.

Drogba’s plea to combatants to lay down their arms played a key role in the negotiation of a five-year ceasefire.
