Anfield side keen on Sporting Lisbon attacker.

Liverpool have reportedly set their sights on Spanish international winger Diego Capel according to Italian source TuttoMercato.

The 25 year old wide-man was a much sought after property during his time at Sevilla and the attacker has thrived since his move to Sporting Lisbon 18 months ago but may well be tempted by the chance to move to Anfield this summer.

Brendan Rodgers may well feel he needs to boost his wide attacking options, not least since youngster Raheem Sterling has gone off the boil after an encouraging start to his Liverpool career. Interest in Capel could also spell the end of Oussama Assaidi’s spell at the club, with the Moroccan having had little chance to prove himself in his first season at the club.

Capel helped Sporting Lisbon to the Europa League semi-finals last term and despite the club’s poor domestic form this term the Spaniard has still impressed at the Estádio José Alvalade.

Prior to his move to Portugal Capel racked up over 150 appearances for Sevilla as well as two international caps and may well feel that a high profile move to the Premier League could help him to add to that total.
