QPR are thought to be considering a summer move for Aston Villa striker Darren Bent, The Metro understands.

However, the West London club will face some stiff competition for his signature as Norwich and Swansea are also interested.

Bent is expected to make an exit from the claret and blue side this summer after finding his opportunities limited behind Christian Benteke, Andreas Weimann and Gabriel Agbonlahor.

QPR have suffered a frustrating season in front of goal despite bringing in Bobby Zamora, Andrew Johnson and Loic Remy and they see the England forward as the ideal solution to their goal scoring problems, but they may have to wait until they are safe from relegation before making any serious enquiries.

Swansea are said to be looking to bolster their strike force after letting Danny Graham leave recently and with the club’s first Europe League campaign on the horizon Michael Laudrup is making a proven goalscorer one of his top priorities.

He’ll also be eager to re-establish himself in the England squad having last played for the national team in 2011’s World Cup qualifiers.

Bent joined Villa in a bumper £24 million move in January 2011 from Sunderland. He has scored 24 times in 60 games in the Midlands but has suffered a difficult relationship with new manager, Paul Lambert. He has seen much of his Villa career blighted by injury, but there’s no doubt that his goals kept the club up last season.
