Arsenal are set to make a summer bid for Swansea’s Michel Vorm according to The Metro.

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has made bringing in a new goalkeeper one of his summer priorities as he looks to provide some competition for Polish stopper Wojciech Szczesny.

Szczesny has failed to replicate his form from last season and has committed a number of high profile blunders as Arsenal have lost ground in the race for a Champions League qualification spot.

They have since mounted something of a recovery and are just four points off rivals Tottenham, with a game in hand, but Wenger is keen to ensure the same mistakes are committed again next season.

The French boss believes some top quality competition for Szczesny could give the player the push he needs to progress his skills and has targeted Dutch goalie Vorm as the player to do so.

Vorm has three years remaining on his current deal with Swansea but his performances for the Welsh club this season has attracted the attention of a number of top clubs.

The likes of Manchester United and Barcelona are thought to be set to compete for the player’s signature come the summer.

Should Arsenal fail to land Vorm, they may look instead to Liverpool’s Spanish stopper Pepe Reina.
