Arsenal’s Jack Wilshere has been told he will be out of action for at least six weeks according to The Metro.

Wilshere’s last appearance for the Gunners was during their 2-1 defeat to Tottenham and the club are desperate to see him return to the side as they look to secure a Champions League qualification spot.

But the player has been side-lined after suffering a reoccurrence of the ankle problem that kept him out for almost 16 months.

Hopes of an early return for Wilshere have been dashed after the player flew out to Dubai to visit a specialist last week.

It was initially believed that Wilshere had injured his left ankle but it now appears that both ankles are giving the player problems leading to fears that the player may be experiencing a reoccurrence of his previous long-term injury.

Wilshere has been omitted from the England squad for their up-coming games against San Marino and Montenegro and boss Roy Hodgson last week admitted he may have to use the player sparingly to ensure his long-term fitness.

Arsenal are now preparing to finish the remainder of the season without the talismanic centre-midfielder although there is still some hope he could have made a return during the team’s final few fixtures.
