Arsenal are planning an ambitious attempt to bring Chelsea goalkeeper Peter Cech to the Emirates Stadium according to The Daily Mail.

The club have drawn up a six-man shortlist of summer targets as they look to bring in a replacement for current number one Wojciech Szczesny.

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has run out of patience with the Polish stopper after a number of high profile errors has cost the side valuable points as they look to secure a top four finish and qualification for next season’s Champions League.

The club’s hierarchy have identified Cech as their first choice target and have been extensively scouting the player in recent weeks.

Cech is currently Chelsea’s first choice goalkeeper but that may soon change following the form of young goalkeeper Thibault Courtois.

The Belgian youngster has been putting in some impressive performances out on loan at Atletico Madrid and is demanding first team football at Stamford Bridge sooner rather than later.

Chelsea may well decide to give in to Courtois’ demands and offload Cech, rather than risk losing the youngster to one of their European rivals.

The likes of Barcelona and Real Madrid have been linked with a move for the player in recent weeks.

That could pave the way for Cech to make an unlikely move to the Emirates but Wenger is also making enquiries for the likes of Pepe Reina, Victor Valdes, Simon Mignolet and Michel Vorm in case a deal does not materialise.
