Cash strapped Portuguese side Sporting Lisbon have offered Tottenham the chance to sign Spanish international Diego Capel for just £5m according to the Metro.

The former Sevilla man is thought to be on Andre Villas-Boas’s radar and the chance to capture the 25 year old for such a small fee may be too tempting to turn down.

Apparently White Hart Lane chairman Daniel Levy is a big fan of the wide-man and was linked with interest in Capel during Juande Ramos’s Tottenham reign.

The North London side are apparently set to allow Iago Falque and David Bentley to depart though clearly Capel, who can play on either wing, would still have the small matter of forcing his way past either Gareth Bale or Aaron Lennon for a first team spot.

Capel helped Sporting Lisbon to the Europa League semi-finals last term and despite the club’s poor domestic form this term the Spaniard has still impressed at the Estádio José Alvalade.

Prior to his move to Portugal Capel racked up over 150 appearances for Sevilla as well as two international caps and may well feel that a high profile move to the Premier League could help him to add to that total.
