Mamadou Sakho has urged Liverpool to make an approach for his services according to talkSport.

The French defender is desperate to secure a move away from the club after finding his first team opportunities limited.

The player is recognised as one of the best young defenders in Europe but he has found his pitch time limited as current PSG boss Carlo Ancelotti prefers to play Brazilian defenders Thiago Silva and Alex.

Sakho is keen to return to first team action as he looks to cement his place in the French international squad.

With the 2014 World Cup in Brazil just around the corner, Sakho is concerned that his lack of playing time could jeopardise his place in Didier Deschamps’ squad.

Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers is in the market for defensive reinforcements this summer.

He is likely to find his options at the back limited with club legend Jamie Carragher set to retire, and the future of Slovakian centre-back Martin Skrtel looking increasingly uncertain.

Rodgers has identified finding a new centre-back as his number one priority and believes Sakho to be well suited to Premier League football.

His attempts at signing the player may be hampered however by the news that the club are set to give him just £20 million to spend on new players.
