Newcastle United centre-back Fabricio Coloccini has prompted fresh speculation linking with a move away from the club according to The Sun.

The player is currently back in his native Argentina has he recovers from a back injury but the Magpies defender has enraged club bosses after being caught in stands for a San Lorenzo match.

The Newcastle captain was reportedly keen on moving to the club during the January transfer window, but was eventually persuaded to stay on until the end of the season.

Reports in recent weeks have suggested Coloccini’s stay at St James’ Park remains set to come to an end with the player still keen on returning to Argentina.

The player reportedly has personal problems and is keen to join up with his father Osvaldo who is currently a youth coach at San Lorenzo.

Coloccini was caught on camera singing with the club’s fans as they secured a 1-0 victory over Colon in the Primera Division.

The centre-back is due to return to the North-East early next week but he is unlikely to receive a warm welcome home after being spotted in the stands of a club he has been strongly linked with.

Speculation over Coloccini’s future was further placed in doubt earlier this month after he was seen arriving in Argentina with ten bags of luggage, prompting speculation he was making a permanent return to South America.
