Stamford Bridge side set to sign yet another Belgian?
Chelsea are confident they will win their long running race to sign Everton midfielder Maroune Fellaini according to the Daily Star.
The West London side are ready to offer the 25 year old Belgian international a five year contract worth a cool £4.5m a year, a huge pay hike for the Toffees star who has been off-form over recent weeks but is still nonetheless a much sought after talent.
Roman Abramovich is keen to bring in a ‘Marquee’ signing or two this summer to take the edge off what has been a poor campaign for the Blues.
The Stamford Bridge side would have expected to have gone from strength to strength following their Champions League triumph in 2011/12, but things have not panned out that way. The Russian billionaire angered many of his Stamford Bridge faithful when he axed Roberto Di Matteo and Abramovich may well be willing to admit that the appointment of Rafa Benitez as an interim boss has also backfired.
Fellaini may well be tempted by a move to Chelsea, not least because he would join a host of his fellow countrymen with the likes of Eden Hazard, Thibaut Courtois, Kevin de Bruyne and Romelu Lukaku all at the club.
