Villa Park side weigh up move for Parkhead ace.
Aston Villa are eyeing up a move for Celtic striker Gary Hooper with the Midlands side being told that a fee of £8m could be enough to lure the 25 year old to Villa Park according to the Daily Mirror.
The prolific forward, who has hopes of breaking into the England national team picture, has just over 12 months to run on his current deal and as such £8m seems a more than reasonable price for the Premier League side to offer.
Hooper may well have Premier League ambitions but clearly Aston Villa will have to have avoided the drop for such an offer to hold any interest to the former Scunthorpe United man.
Lambert’s interest in Hooper would presumably mean that he would look to offload one of his many current striking options. The likes of Christian Benteke, Gabriel Agbonlahor and Andreas Weimann are used frequently by the Scottish boss, so perhaps Darren Bent is the man who would make way for any potential addition.
Hooper has netted an impressive 77 goals in 129 appearances since his £2.4m move to Parkhead back in July 2010.
